Day 11: Kansas City, MO to Moberly, MO
Summary:
Roads:
Tuesday morning. The nearest shop with tires (and not, unfortunately, the same type as I had on the bike) is 20 miles south and west of the motel. The tire prices seem pretty reasonable. When I got to the shop it was quite a big place - they sell Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki; they also sell ATVs and watercraft. Since I didn't have a service appointment I had to wait to get the tires installed. I didn't get out of there until nearly 1:00PM. I've got brand new Michelin Pilot Road tires on. I hope I get the same mileage that I got from the Michelin Macadam 100X tires. After grabbing a bite to eat I head towards Moberly. I-470 was just another interstate. However, once I was on 24 and headed east the ride got better - green trees, corn fields, curves and hills. There are more state troopers giving out tickets here. Maybe Missouri is copying the Kansas revenue enhancement scheme. I finally made it to Moberly only to discover that I had lost the directions to Tommy's house :( Luckily, I remembered enough to find the place :) Tommy was out on the porch waiting for me. Now I can get off the bike for a few days and rest. I'm sure Tommy, Donna and Matthew will take good care of me. |
