Day 16: Oak Grove, KY to Dothan, AL

Summary:
    Miles:   445
    Average: 66
    Maximum: 73

Roads:
    I-65, 231

Heck. I woke up at 4:30 to the sound of rain! Hard rain! The parking lot is an inch deep in water. Did I put the cover on the bike last night? Heck, no! Into the shower, hoping that things will improve. Nope. Still raining. I packed everything back into the bags and went over to McDonald's to get coffee and breakfast. Yeah, right. They open at 5:00AM but only for the drive through.  No service for walk-ups, can't come inside out of the rain. Sigh. The rain is easing a bit. I figure to take off and get a real breakfast later. Good decision: 20 minutes south the roads are dry and the clouds are lifting, just a bit. That was the end of the rain.

Another long day. In fact, the longest so far. The heat and humidity are pretty bad, especially with the jacket and helmet. It would have been worse but there was a good bit of cloud cover (about 80%) which kept me out of the direct sunlight most of the time. Too many of the riders here wear shorts, tank tops and either no helmet or just shorty helmets. I can understand it, but can't do it. Surprisingly, I did pass ONE rider wearing an identical jacket to my Mesh Tex II in bright yellow. He also was loaded for touring and had a full-face helmet on. I guess I'm not the only fruitcake out here!

I stopped for gas at a little, pokey interchange and got a surprise. I should have taken a picture just so you would believe me. Only two hundred feet from the Citgo station was a "Gentlemen's Club", (apparently low-lifes and ruffians aren't allowed), called the "Boobie Bungalow"! Also, later saw the first Hooter's Restaurant for the trip. I didn't stop at either spot though :)
