Day 27-28: Kempton, PA to Kitchener, Ontario, Canada
Rich and Michael came up with a great plan to get me some added rest: they would come to Kitchener with me, but would drive Michael's car. We would switch off riding on my motorcycle. Rich brought his daughter Kayleigh, too. We started off the day with Rich and Kayleigh on the Bandit and Michael and I in the car. With a little judicious map reading we managed to find some Pennsylvania and New York country roads that allowed us to avoid the usual interstate drudgery. We had a very nice day exploring roads that we hadn't traveled before. When we got to the border we expected lots of questions and delay. Instead we had a very fast crossing. No delays, no grilling by the customs folks! We finally arrived at my daughter's place in Kitchener. She and husband Jared made everyone comfortable for the night. I went to bed early; everyone else stayed up partying. They built a bonfire in the back yard and didn't come in until very late! The next morning Rich, Kayleigh and Michael packed up and headed back to Pennsylvania. They didn't get off quite as early as planned due to the late night ;) Megan and I went to visit a local attraction - "Wings of Paradise". This is a butterfly conservatory: a building chock full of live butterflies fluttering around among the tropical plants. The butterflies are simply beautiful. I hope that some of my photos come out well enough to let you see just how pretty the butterflies were. One more night of rest and then I start the long trip for home! |
