Sunday, and  "yes, Toto", I've finally made it to Kansas. The scenery isn't too bad but the roads are straight and not much fun. For the first time I've seen state troopers that have cars pulled over. In fact, in the first hour I saw three people getting tickets! Kansas must have a real revenue enhancement program under way...

Great Bend is a pretty nice looking town. When I checked into the motel there a fellow that had passed me on a beemer was there, too. It turns out that he does lots of touring. He had over 70K miles on his current machine and maybe 200K on other machines. He really liked his 1100RT.

Folks here ride without helmets or jackets. I stand out in my full-face helmet and bright yellow jacket.
